IMPACT

St. Croix County is one of the fastest growing counties in Wisconsin, and so the number of people impacted is expected to increase as our community grows.  Further, this playground would draw families from the surrounding communities for which a universal park is otherwise too far to travel and for families seeking to explore different and unique offerings at New Richmond's universal playground.

With one in seven children in the United States living with a disability, we want to make sure that all children enjoy their time at the playground, and that means building inclusive play equipment that all children of all abilities can benefit from and use.

Parents who have disabilities will also benefit from this playground in that they will be able to play alongside their child instead of sitting and watching or foregoing trips to the park altogether.

TIMELINE & COST

Our goal is to raise the funds by the end of year 2022.

​

The estimated cost for the project is $550,000.  Costs include preparing the area, playground features and equipment, installation, landscaping and restrooms.

​

The cost of the playground maintenance will be covered by the City of New Richmond Parks and Recreation.

LIFESPAN OF PROJECT

This project's impact has an indefinite lifespan. Communities are diverse, and playgrounds should be too. Active, independent play is critical for the development, health, well-being and social opportunities of all children. However, the benefits of play are not limited solely to children, but reach across communities throughout one's lifespan.

Will's Playground will untie children, families and community citizens though the power of play. Further, with proper upkeep, the playground equipment installed will have usable lifespan that will last for generations to come.
